You believe. But something between you and God feels off right now. Maybe it has been dry for a long time — the Bible feels flat, prayer feels like talking to a ceiling, and worship is something you go through rather than something you actually enter into. Or maybe it goes deeper than that. You are not sure you know how to hear His voice. You are not sure you really trust Him. You love God in theory, but experiencing Him in real life feels like something other people seem to know how to do — and you are not quite sure why it hasn't clicked for you the same way.
Here is what's worth knowing: a disconnected relationship with God can have more than one layer to it. Some of it is about the root — the wounds you carry and the ways they shape how you relate to God, often without you realizing it. A woman who grew up feeling unseen by her father will struggle to believe God sees her, no matter how many times she reads that He does. A woman who learned that love is conditional will keep waiting for God to pull the rug out. The wounds don't stay in the past. They follow you into your faith.
But some of it is also about not knowing how. Not knowing how to read scripture in a way that comes alive. Not knowing how to actually hear His voice versus your own thoughts. Not knowing what it looks like to experience the Holy Spirit in the middle of an ordinary Tuesday. Those are real gaps too — and they are not a faith failure. They are just things nobody ever taught you. Both layers matter. And both can change.
